Fortaleza Transports

Pending the imminent opening of Fortaleza underground, the city's public buses are not really a viable option for tourists. This is because they are normally very crowded, which is particularly annoying because of the hot climate, and for the possibility of occasional thefts within them.

The best options for tourists are therefore taxis, which are fairly cheap, or car rentals. A taxi costs typically 8-12 reais from Beira Mar to Praia de Iracema and about 15-20 reais from Beira Mar to Praia do Futuro.
